Program of Study: Work Term base Professional Education Program is an academic, non credit, educational practicum class and exam based program .PEP promotes continuous learning through the integration of class room and applied work based learning. It is a learner centered model where the onus of responsibilities is on student direct their own learning and to make valuable contribution in the workplace. This learning is guided and supported by employer and the RKIS Research Institute of Technology, under private vocational training regulation section 3. This Program is not a Job placement strategy and candidates are wholly responsible for securing their placement unless employer is registered with RKIS for employee development program.
All of our program is license exempt under Private Vocational Training regulation and approved by Ministry of Education in Alberta. RKIS INC, Alberta does not provide the courses because it controls its curriculum, employer/student registration and examinations only. The member institute is responsible for Course completion and other formalities such as Theories and other common assignments.
Student alternate periods of full time, paid work experience in employer organizations with terms of Academic study. The sequence of academic terms and work term will be such that the last term in a student’s program is an academic term and student need to go through a common final examination.
The qualification granted to graduating professional development program student includes the unique designation –Professional Development program and Transcript will include the name of the employer for each work term completed
Professional Education program is a partnership involving the student, the employer and the Institute. In joining the partnership each member assumes the responsibilities and requirement of the professional Education program, and obtain certain benefits from participation.
#Student/ Candidate Responsibilities
● Complete all academic requirements of the regular program Level 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 Program plus at least 12 weeks to 12 months and maximum 3 years or more of work experience within in five years. An additional work term may be allowed (for a total of 16 months to 36 months of program related work experience for exceptional circumstances. Followed by immigration requirement
For information on this option ● attend a series of non-credit “Introduction to Professional Development Education Program” seminars, workshops and access E-Class online content that provide the necessary training and preparation for productive job searches and work placements or submit a business plan with business license included tax documents for self employment. ● Accept personal responsibility for obtaining suitable employment by utilizing all resources provided by the institute Office. ● Conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner throughout the application and interview process, on the job, and in their dealings with Institute program staff. ● Understand that the Code of Student Behavior and the Standards for the Protection of Human Research Participants (refer to the Institute Calendar) also apply while a student is on a work term.

# Employer Responsibilities:
The Employer functions as an educator by providing challenging and career oriented work experience. The Employer is expected to: ● Provide relevant paid full-time employment for 12 or 36 months or more based on mutual understanding through Scholarship. ● Determine the salary offered, employment status, deductions, risk management with insurance, vacation pay etc., for the student at the time of registration. ● Honor the acceptance of a Professional Development Program job offer as a contractual obligation with the student. ● Maintain Comprehensive General Liability coverage appropriate to their operations, including Employer’s Liability and Workers’ Compensation, where applicable or as per the employment laws of the employer location ● Participate in a mid-term site visit and complete a final performance evaluation that is reviewed with the student at the conclusion of the work term. And finally submit the student performance report to the Institute for Unit by Unit assessment

● Inform students, employers and other interested parties of the professional development program related policies and procedures.
● Select students for the work experience Program.
● Coach Students on the job search process and help prepare them for work term placements.
● Evaluate employer job descriptions for suitability compared to Canadian National Occupation Code and its duties.
● Organize and facilitate job postings, employer/student interviews and placements.
● Assist students in identifying learning opportunities and limitations within each placement and throughout the program and experience processes (job search, academic integration etc.).
● Meet with employers and students through Virtual meeting or In person meeting to review the student's progress and to discuss career goals and may appoint a local instructors for in person visit to examine and Evaluate work term reports.

Use counseling from your principal consultant for CPD plan to create your current month/year’s plan, ensuring you address the mandatory competencies that you need to get success that you can obtain Canadian job offer and Permanent residence .
There are 6 competencies in the CPD plan, as well as an “other” category for any items that do not fit into a specific competency. Each competency has its own page in the planning template.
You are required to plan each of the other competencies and to acknowledge that through the check box on each page before you can declare your plan.
You will not be able to declare your plan complete if you do not acknowledge plan of each competency.
Save your work frequently.
Step 3: Declare your Plan
Prior to declaring your plan on page 8 of the template:
· Ensure you have checked off the acknowledgement on each of the other competency pages.
When you are ready to declare your plan, proceed through the following steps:

2. Read and understand the information presented.
3. Certify your plan by checking the certification box.

1. Return to your plan throughout the month/year to reflect on your progress.
2. Once your plan is declared, the plan components will not be available for editing.
3. The reflection components will be available for editing all year, until the beginning of the next CPD year, allowing you to reflect on your activities and their impact on your practice, as well as update your plans for the current year.

Remember, all plans must comply with the Rules of the under Private Vocational Training regulation section 3:
(1) Continuing professional development is any learning activity that is:
(a) relevant to the professional needs of a Book keeper/accountant/managers/ other professions;
(b) pertinent to long-term career interests in a particular filed;
(c) in the interests of the employer in a particular industry; or
(d) related to the professional ethics and responsibilities of candidate.
(2) Continuing professional development must contain significant substantive, technical, practical or intellectual content.
(3) It is each candidate’s responsibility to determine from IRCC website whether a learning activity meets these criteria and therefore qualifies as continuing professional development.
